Ms. Tulsi Nowlakha Mirchandaney
Tulsi Nowlakha Mirchandaney is the Managing Director and Accountable Manager for Blue Dart Aviation, India’s first and only scheduled domestic cargo airline, with a fleet of six Boeing 757 freighters. Blue Dart Aviation is the only cargo airline that has sustained its operations in India for the past twenty five years. Her responsibility spans the organization’s flight and ground operations, inhouse security, airframe line and heavy maintenance, and ground handling activities, with a workforce of over 1200 committed professionals. During her tenure, the company expanded its capacity with the phase out of the classic B737-200 freighters, replacing them with the more fuel-efficient B757 freighters. She has been instrumental in expanding the company’s dedicated infrastructure across airports, and bringing about policy changes in civil aviation to include the significant role of air express, and support the distinctive requirements for the sustainability of the cargo airline industry in the country.
She has been actively associated with the airline and express industry in India for over fifty years, and with the Blue Dart group for twenty five years, having been involved with the launch of Blue Dart Aviation prior to its inception in 1996. She was responsible for setting up the air cargo products, interline arrangements, and major contracts including Postmail, and initiating domestic and international charter operations, all of which continue to contribute to the group’s product portfolio. Her erstwhile functions at Blue Dart included Marketing and Projects, during which time the company acquired its first Superbrand and other brand awards. She spearheaded First Choice, the Group’s continuous improvement programme, as the first Senior Advisor for First Choice in Blue Dart, and initiated the CSR programme.
Tulsi is the Co-Chair on the Confederation of Indian Industry’s National Committee for Civil Aviation for 2019-20 and 2020-21, is a board member of Blue Dart Express and Air Cargo Forum India. She has an MBA degree in International Aviation from Concordia University, Montreal, and has been felicitated by the Ministry of Civil Aviation for her contribution to Civil Aviation in the country.
